There is something special about visiting your parents’ home and revisiting childhood memories through familiar objects and photo albums. But for me, this has been impossible for several years because my parents’ house is located in occupied territory and it is dangerous to travel there. All that remains of my childhood are my memories, which are becoming harder to hold onto as I get older. It’s like trying to view an old photo album through a thick veil of smoke or dirty glass, with only bits and pieces of the image coming into focus.
