Series of animated digital collages. Presented on a smartphone screen at the exhibition “Wonderland”, Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine.
During the first lockdown, I found myself feeling anxious and bored like many others. Eager to break free from the isolation of my home, I turned to social media to stay connected. However, I quickly realized that I had run out of things to share with my friends and followers.
To combat this, I began creating imaginary stories using my old photos and adding emojis to them. I also searched Instagram for funny or surreal animations and added them to the pictures, completely changing the context of the images. I spent hours creating these collages, sometimes staying up all night to work on them. The process helped me cope with the monotony of being stuck at home and provided a welcome distraction from my worries.
